NZ endangered birds

For inquiry we have been learning about endangered animals, so for reading we had to do something related to this topic. We had to find some Nz birds, their conservation status, facts about them and a picture.

Kiwi
Endangered
They are becoming endangered because humans
are cutting down their homes in the forests. There 24-27,00 kiwis left in Nz.

Kakapo
Critically endangered
Kakapos are being killed by pests and losing their homes in the forests.

Fantail
Least concern
Fantails have an few predators including cats, stoats and rats

Grey warbler
Least concern
The grey warblers build nests which are in a similar shape as an pear. This nest has a hole at the top

Kea
Vulnerable
Keas are omnivores which means that they eat beetles and bugs

Kingfisher
Least concern
The female kingfishers have prettier and brighter feathers than the males. They can also dig burrows to be 3-8 feet long.
