We have been working on our animal zentangles for a long time and I am finally done. I have done the vivid and glued it onto a colored sheet of paper. My hardest thing we probably thinking of what zentangle to put on the face and to think of all the zentangles to put in the spots on the jaguars back.
Mine is the jaguar one with the red paper behind it.
I have already wrote about the first part of the show. Now we have started doing full year 4-6 rehearsals. We have learned the finale dance and it is looking great. I have learned my lines completely and have started to add more expression and make it sound like I am really the person who I am acting to be.
We ahve started to also make props. posters and tickets for the show. The light people have also started to work out the light. Our dance is looking amazing. Well, really the whole production is amazing. I rate it 10/10.
For the last 2 weeks the year 4-6 classes (room 1,2,3,4,5,6,20 and 21 and the flash mob) have been working on a show. We are thinking of calling it........ THE MUSIC BOOK!
First 2 teachers and 2 children had to work on a script. When that was done they had to sort out witch class did what dance. Our class (room 2) is doing party rock anthem. Then they held auditions for the speaking parts. I got the mum's part! We have been practicing our dance and it is looking great. This afternoon we are learning the finale dance!
The main story is:
There is 2 girls (Rebecca and Georgia) are getting a present for their best friend (Emma) Birthday. They go to the book store to look for a book about music/ dancing. The shopkeeper gives them a book and says that it is a very special book and they can't let adults see it. On the way to Emma's house they read from the book the dance that they read about comes to life. They bring the book to Emma's house as it is her present. Emma's brothers (Max and Chris) are there and they are really annoying. They keep trying to read the book with the girls even when the mum (me) keeps telling them not to. The boys put a yucky flavor in the girls cupcakes and the mum has to tell them off.b At the end the boys get sent to their room and watch our dances on their TV. Then all the kids read the book together. The finale (with all the classes who did dances) come on and do a dance. All together there were 10 dances.
Last week we did something called shake out. It is a earthquake drill which everyone in the whole country does. We did it at 9:15 am. It is a practice so if there is a real earth quake we know exactly what to do. There is 3 simple steps to tell you what to do.
Today room 1 & 2 did a kiwi for kiwi morning tea. This is a fundraiser for an organisation called kiwi for kiwi. All the profits that we made at this morning tea go to the kiwi foundation so they can: put up traps for pests like Possums, stoats, rats and hedgehogs. Also to incubate the kiwi eggs to that we can increase the population. Did you know that only 1 kiwi in every 10 eggs survive?
The Kiwi for kiwi morning tea is a competition and the first prize is a visit from the one and only......... BUG MAN! There is also second and third prizes but we are going for the first prize.
Yesterday each person in room 1 & 2 baked something yummy like: cookies, cupcake, lollies and cake and then brought it in to school today. Then in the morning we make posters, popcorn and set all the yummy food out on wooden tables in front of of room 1-6. There was 1 year 3-4 table, 2 year 1-2 tables and 1 year 5-6 table. When the morning tea bell went 4 children from room 1 and 2 went behind each stall to collect the money. All the food was 50 cents each.
After morning tea we all put a slip of paper with our name and our guess of how much money we made in an ice cream box. I guessed $443.20. Then some children counted all the money and we got to a total of exactly $600.10. Amazing right?
I hope that we have raised enough money to help at least 1 kiwi and maybe even get a visit from the BUG MAN!
For writing a couple of students had to put their best sentence that they had written on this page:

Yesterday room 1&2 went for an amazing trip to Auckland Zoo! We had this trip because we have been learning about Endangered animals and this was the perfect place to learn more information.
We left at 9:20am and took the half an hour drive to the Auckland Zoo. By the time we got there it was morning tea time. After the morning tea we split into our groups of 5 people and started trouping around the zoo. We saw lots of animals in the first half an hour like the Red Pandas, Otters, Tigers, Baboons, Orangutan's and much, much more. Just before lunch time, we went and watched the Red pandas and the Otters getting fed. I learnt that the Otters like eating sea food like shrimps and that around 97% of the Red Pandas diet was bamboo and the other 3 percent is things like grass and seeds!
After lunch we split. Groups 1-5 went to learn about tracking and groups 7-10 went to learn about palm oil. At the palm oil station we learnt about deforestation and animals losing their homes in the forests. The activities we did in this station were trying to open jars and bags with out a thumb (because this is what an Orangutan has to do).
Here are some products which contain palm oil
At the tracking station we had to work in buddies and use the tracking tunnels to identify what foot prints goes with what animal and if they are pests or pals. After that we went for an other little walk around the zoo and we saw the 14 golden Lion Tamerin getting fed by a zoo keeper. She fed them bananas, pear and carrots. The zoo keepers has to memorize all the names of the animals it looks after! After that we took the bus back to school. It was an awesome trip!
What I learnt:
An Orangutan is 97% like us!
1 out of every 10 products in the super market contains palm oil.
Palm oil is not bad for you but it is not good because it causes deforestation.
People use tracking tunnels so they can learn what animals live on the island.
How a tracking tunnel works is someone puts ink in the middle if a black tube. On the other side they put peanut butter. When the creature walks through the tunnel to get the peanut butter it walks through the ink and leaves tracks.
For one of the tasks for homework this week we needed to create a pick a path story. Mine is about a theme park adventure. Click on the present button. Then click on the decision you want and it will take you to the next slide. ENJOY! My pick a path story
This past week has been money week. Today we played a money game made especially for this week. It was lots of fun and taught us a tot of things about saving and adding money.
Here are some questions we had to answer:
What are the benefits we gain for keeping track of our income and spending?
We don't go bankrupt and spend all our money and we know how much money we have.
What risks did you encounter in the game?
Having to spend money on things that you didn't want to buy.
You have no money left and you still have to buy something so you have to have negative money.
What effects did these risks have on meeting your saving goal?
It made us have less money and lose the money. Usually we get some money than had to spend it.
What were the rewards you encountered in the game?
