Zentangles

For our art we have been making Zentangles.
Zentangles is when you fill a picture with patterns.

Firstly we sketched out different patterns that we could use in our picture.
Next we drew a few boxes and filled them with different patterns.
Then we drew a big box and drew four lines curving around the box and making sure that the cross over each other and we filled each compartment with different patterns.

Here are some that I found on the internet:

Here is a video of how to do the 10 basic patterns

Speeches

We have started thinking about the topics of our speech.
I think that I will do mine about animal poaching.
To help us think about ideas we created a palet with the whole class to put our ideas on.

Educreations/ learning conversation

Yesterday we did our learning conversations with our parents. These learning conversations were not like the normal ones which were just teacher to parent. These learning conversations were just you and your parents you could play games with them or show them your learning. Occasionally the teacher would stop by and talk a little bit with your parents.
I liked this kind of one lots more.
We had to make an educreation about a math question to share.
This is mine:

Working out hard x questions using Tidy numbers

For maths we have been learning how to work out difficult times questions using tidy numbers.
Our walt was:
Walt: Use tidy numbers to solve x problems

This is how you do it.

3 x 79 = 237
3 x 80 = 240 - 3 x 1 = 237

Here is my workings in my group book when I first got told how to do it:

This is my follow up answers in my grid book:

Language features

We have been learning 3 language features:

The first day we learned about Alliteration and we watched a catchy video The next day we learned about Personification and watched an other video. The last day we learnt about Repetition.

My Alliteration is:
Cute cats can crawl, creep and climb over creepy cars
The alliteration video:

My Personification is:
The chair moaned and drooped limply when the child sat on it.
The personification video:

My Repitition is:
The cat meowed and meowed and meowed at the front door until the human opened it.

Flower Art

This term we have been working on flowers with our art teacher Mrs Tolsma.

If you would like to try it our I have put the steps of how I made it.

1. Firstly we planed our flowers on a blank piece of paper in our art book .
2. Then we choose which flower we liked the best and drew it on a big piece of A3 paper making sure we drew it very big.
3. After that we painted it in the colors that we wanted then cut it out and stuck it on black paper.
4. Then using wire and plastic bags we made bugs then decorated them with sparkles.
5. Then we stuck it on our flowers.

This is not mine but this is kind of what it looked like:

Georges book shelf adventure

When had a reliever called Mr Spanhake. During this time we wrote a story. It was about his sharpener which was shaped as a corn cob. We had to make him go on an adventure. Mine was called George and the bookshelf adventure:

George and the bookshelf adventure
“Thump!” George fell to the hard wooden floor with an  an big bang. It was an hot stuffy summer afternoon and George was relaxing under the cool wind of the fan in his classroom. All the students had left hours ago and George was relaxing in the quiet classroom. George was an corn cob sharpener and all the students  in the class loved him dearly. “Ouch” shouted George with pain but of  course no one heard him. George tried to roll over and get up but he just rolled behind the big wooden bookcase. “Ohhhh” groaned George and looked around. There were lots of bits and bobs everywhere including bunches of blunt pencils. “Well “ thought George to himself “ maybe I should sharpen the big mountain of pencils while for someone or something to rescue me”. So George set to work sharpening all the pencils until they were as sharp as needles. “George, George where have you got to asked an worried  Mr Spangle .( Mr Spanhake was George's owner and the class teacher). “ Im here” shouted George but as he was behind the bookshelf his voice came out all muffled. George sat there and started crying “ no one is ever going to find me here” he wept. Then suddenly a mans face appeared from around the corner of the bookshelf. “There you are george, how did you get there you silly corn cob? He asked. “Doesn't matter what matters is that you are safe and sound. George sighed with happiness. He loved being back in his owners hands. It was a fun adventure but it was good to be back sharpening pencils.
THE END!

Here are some pictures of our experiments:
