Writing charachter

We have been learning about writing a paragraph to describe a character

Here is mine:

His smile grew bigger and bigger until it lit up his whole face. He held his lantern up proudly, the light peaked in every nook and cranny. He could hear the faint chatter of the Villagers behind him but he ignored them. ll he could think of was the big carrier ship looming closer and closer to the little Island. The ship turned. A cheer escaped his mouth, he felt like he was a runner who has just crossed the finish line.
